Firecrest

Less widespread than the similar Goldcrest, but more common in mainland Europe, the Firecrest is brighter and more boldly coloured at close range. It’s slightly stronger calls and less rhythmic song are useful identification features, especially  when the bird is seen in silhouet at the top of a tall conifer tree.
