Golden Plover

In Winter flocks of Golden Plovers feed on lowland fields, often with Lapwings. Their winter plumage is like that of the Grey Plover, although it lacks black wingpits and they have slimmer bills. In Summer birds from the North develop more black on the face and underside then those that breed in Britain.
